Who we are and what we do
Scarborough Community Alliance Church (SComm) is a family worshipping God under Christ. Our church is located in north Scarborough near Midland and Finch. We are evolving from being a predominantly second generation Chinese Church to being a diverse body of believers with the heart to reach our neighbors and to bring them to a personal and loving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Read our vision statement to get a glimpse into the vision that God has given us for the role our church can play within our local community and His global church.
Denomination:
We are part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Canada (C&MA). The C&MA logo conveys the centrality of the Lord Jesus Christ in our faith, by emphasizing the fourfold gospel of Christ as Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
Beliefs:
We hold to The Apostle’s Creed and the C&MA Statement of Faith.
History:
Originally founded in 1995 as the English ministry of Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church (SCAC), we became an autonomous church in 2009, yet remain in a Dual Church Partnership with SCAC. (Our buildings are on the same street, separated only by a parking lot!)
Size:
About 250 people attend on Sundays for worship.
Demographics:
We are considered by many a young congregation. A large portion of our congregation is in their teens or twenties although we have a growing number of young families as well.
Worship:
Our worship service is 9:30 to 11 am on Sundays. Our worship songs include contemporary modern songs as well as classic hymns. Following announcements, a message from our speaker, and communion (first Sunday of every month), we close with a final song. After the benediction and closing of the service, many people then proceed to our Sunday discipleship classes (Sunday school for adults and students) at 11:30 am.
Hakka Church Plant:
The Hakka Alliance Church also meets in our church building for their Hakka-language service from 3:30 to 5 pm.
Leadership:
Our senior pastor is Victor Lee, and we are also blessed to have our administrative secretary Zarina Lit. Our church is led by our board of elders, and supported by dozens of amazing volunteers from our congregation.
Ministries:
We seek to emphasize community through our popular small group ministry and student ministries (Junior High, High School, and College/University ministries), missions (world evangelization), outreach (local evangelization), and many more. We are privileged to host many ministries you could participate in, so contact us to learn more or get connected!
